Q&A

First of all, we are extremely grateful to all of you making the trip to Colombia to attend our wedding. We know it is a big effort and we would like to help you with any questions or doubts you have when planning your trip. On this page you will find some general recommendations for your trip, but please feel free to contact us with any and all questions you have!

What is the dress-code?

The dresscode for the pre-party (the day before) is smart-casual. This means we would like you to wear comfy but stylish clothes. Please note, the pre-party will be held outside.

For the wedding day the dresscode is Black Tie. This means a black tuxedo for the men (no suits) and for the ladies long dresses are the way to go. Tuxedos can be rented in Medellin, please let us know if you need help with that. Please do not wear a black or white dress as these colors are reserved for the bride and her crew.

Can I bring a plus one?

Please only bring a plus one if it is indicated in the invitation.

Will transportation be provided?

Transportation will be provided to and from the place of the ceremony back to the venue (the Brown), more details will follow.

Where is the venue located?

The wedding party will take place at Marriott Hotel The Brown in Guatapé. When arriving to the front-gate (if not staying at the Brown), please request to be brought to the lobby. As mentioned in the travel page, please make sure to book your accomodation in Vereda Los Naranjos (the peninsula where the Brown is located).

Are Medellin and Guatapé safe?

Medellin and Guatapé are considered one of the safest areas in Colombia. However, as everywhere in the world it is important to exercise common sense. As Colombians say, don’t give papaya!

How do we get around Medellin?

We recommend using Uber (drivers may ask you to sit in the front seat - this is totally normal in Colombia so don't be alarmed). You can also ask the hotel, a restaurant or a security guard to call a cab for you - don't stop cabs on the street. You can also find the numbers of three taxi drives in the travel page.

How do we get around Guatapé?

As Guatapé is a little town, taxi's are not as accessible. Also the internet connection is not so good. Locals therefore use tuktuks within the area or Uber for longer distance trips. During the wedding day (and until the end of the party) there will be transportation available for those that need to go from the venue to their accomodations (within Guatapé).

Should I buy internet in Colombia?

We highly recommend buying an E-sim card using Airalo or Nomad. These are quite cheap and will allow you to order a taxi or use your navigation or translation app wherever you are.

Is there a wedding registry?

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. Should you wish to honor us with a gift, a contribution towards our future honeymoon trip together would be sincerely appreciated. If any doubts, please feel free to reach out to us or to our families (if you don't want to ask us).

What is the wedding schedule?

Please see the homepage for details on the general schedule. As we approach the wedding date we will provide more specific information.
